The Healing of Natalie Curtis

The Healing of Natalie Curtis, a historical novel by Jane Kirkpatrick, is a novel based on a true-life activist and ethno-musicologist and takes place in the early 1900s. Music soothes the soul. Natalie was a woman ahead of her time. Her brother, George always looked after his sister and enjoyed reading about his adventure in the West to search for healing
Although, a slow start at the beginning, the story drew me in. I loved the history and stories of the Native Americans and their songs. See, I lived on an Indian reservation for a summer and fell in love with the people. The rich stories that are passed down from generation to generation. At the same time our government has not always treated the Native Americans fairly. Even during the time of Natalie Curtis, she made it a goal to document the songs before they disappeared.
I recommend the book and am giving it five starts.
